Francis Child connected Little Annie the Goose Girl to Gil Brenton, but mcpd certification the tale is rather different. In "Annie", the heroine is the pure maiden that substitutes for the non-virgin bride (like Maid Maleen in the variant where the bride is pregnant), but in the ballad, the discovery that the bride is pregnant is followed by the question of who is the father, and mcse 2008 certification the revelation that it is the bridegroom. Child has quite a bit about the equivalent fairy tales, but it's rather heavy wading through all the text -- he gets around to mentioning "The Goose Girl" after discussing far more distant parallels to "The Lord of the Lorn and the False Steward" with "Iron Hans", and after network+ certification listing all the Scandavian equivalents to the ballads.
